Hi! I'm new to the smartphone world and have several questions about my droid x. They might already be answered somewhere else, but I couldn't find them...so many threads!

Does anyone know how to....
1) Change the background bubble color in a text message?
2) Get alerted when receiving texts/emails when phone is in vibrate mode?
3) Speed dial?

And lastly thoughts on the newest update; worth it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! =)

2) Get alerted when receiving texts/emails when phone is in vibrate mode?

handcent will do this but idk about emails

3) Speed dial?

how to set it up or use it? use it is just go to the dialer and long press it

And lastly thoughts on the newest update; worth it?

Wow, you're awesome! Thank you! I didn't know how to set speed dial, but got it now. =) Question on the handcent - can it replace the original text messaging settings? Or each time you want to see the colors, you have to go into handcent?

Got it, thanks again!

The more I play with the phone, the more questions I have! Does anyone know if it's possible to have an alert sound or make it vibrate when an email is received? =/

Abe's definitely sent you to a good app. You can go crazy in Handcent. Each person can have their own vibrant sequence. Each person can have their own colored led color and flash sequence. Each person can have their own ringtone when they call.

Give it a week or two and you'll be an expert!

Yes I did ask - thanks for all the input! I did get the update...boosted battery life so no complaints.

I have yet another question :) Does anyone know if I can put my old SD card into the droid x, get stuff off of there, and then take it out? Or is there a simpler way to do that? I really want my videos and pics that are saved on the card, without a backup elsewhere.

use your computer would be the simplest way

plug the phone with the old memory card in it, transfer everything you want to a folder u created, then swap the new one back in and transfer that
