+1 ... easyroot doesn't work at all on 2.2.1. It's not your phone or anything you're doing, it just doesn't work for 2.2.1.

I'm not sure if it's any different for the Droid X but the only one-click method that works for the D1 running 2.2.1 (FRG83D) is Superoneclick: SuperOneClick -- XDA-Developers

Once you root, you will want Koush's bootstrap application. Available for $2 in the market or on his website for free. http://www.koushikdutta.com/2010/08/droid-x-recovery.html that will allow you to get into CW recovery

Yes, +1 for z4root. Or you can do it the long, hard way via link 3 in my sig.

I have searched for hours and haven't found any documentation of the same problem I am having, but this one is close.

I have a droid 1 that I rooted last summer with easyroot. It failed, but then gave me the option to force root so I did. That all worked great until the OTA updates started screwing things ups. Now I cannot unroot with easyroot, but no longer have SU permissions. I am lost, extremely pissed, and could use some help. I am sorry if I am beating a dead horse.

I have tried manually updating which fails. Do I need to do the RSD lite push of the sbf? If so does anyone know where I can get the most up to date one?

This is mostly an issue because the touch keyboard no longer works properly. When I try to use the backspace I get the letter M and sometimes the search key does not work. I have also tried the factory reset, but the super user app does not go away and the updates still fail (status 7)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is why we strived to tell people NOT to use Easy Root and NOT to accept an OTA update if you wanted to remain rooted. :)

Best thing to do is reroot using link two in my signature and go from there.

As for the keyboard, that sounds more like hardware than software, but try rerooting and, since you already have done a factory reset, try flashing a ROM as well.
