Sorry, I have some noob issues. I am trying to root my Droid. I have placed my renamed update.zip file into the root directory. It shows up at the bottom of the directory, but i guess that is correct? I assume there is no file called root I am supposed to put it in?

Anyway when i try to apply update I get the following:

    -- install from SDcard
    Finding update package . . .
    Opening update package . . .
    Verifying update package . . .
E: failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (no such file or directory)
    E:signature verification failed
    Installation aborted.

    any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    B

Googled it and read all the posts and answered my own question. Sucks being a noob.:)

Did not think about hidden file extentions screwing me up.

make sure your on 2.0.1 rom then use this file http://alldroid.org/download/file.php?id=659 rename to update.zip or just update if your on windows vista or win 7 as it hides the file extension by default. and try again

I was finally able to get it to work by downloading and launching directly from the Astro File manager and renaming the PHP to APK. Probably not the way you are supposed to do it but it worked.
