My phone doesn't play nice with the boot sound for some reason, so I'll just use the soundless animation. It'll be less conspicuous that way if my phone decides to reboot randomly for some reason.

What would you guys recommend for an explorer?
Shouldi just go ahead and buy root explorer or are there others that are as good and free?

Sent from my Droid 2 Global running Cm7

File expert also does the job, but it can be a bit on and off when it wants to work. Has a tendency to FC if your sd is crammed.

Got it to work.

This is how.

Downloaded files
Saved to SD Card
Using Root Explorer
Copy boot .zip
Go to system/media
Hit mount button up top to rename current boot
Rename current boot .bak ending
Paste copied boot .zip

Next is the sound.

Copy .ogg file from SD
Move to system/media/audio/notifications
Paste file

Done.

It really is better to copy the bootanimation.zip to /data/local instead of mucking with the /system areas... the phone will look in /data/local first anyway, and then you can still revert to stock bootanimation a lot easier.

I seem to be having root issues with total commander and cm7... It worked fine on the GB leak

You have just been post-pwned via my DROID 2
