I am trying to get internet using my droid for my Playstation 3 using my computer as a kind of router (i am using Windows Vista 32-bit laptop). I have heard it works and have seen it done. I can tether my droid to my computer just fine with no problems. However when I go to the sharing tab and click on "Allow other network users to connect ..." it pops up with a box that says "The user name and password for this connection were not saved for use with all users. As a result, Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) can only dial this connection when you are logged on. To enable automatic dialing, save your user name and password for all users in the Connect dialog." Then I will put the drop down menu on local area connection (where my ps3 is hooked up via ethernet cable). Then when I click on ok another box pops up with "Since this connection is currently active, some settings will not take effect until the next time you dial it." Then after a few seconds another box pops up and gives me "Cannot enable shared access. Error 765." Does someone out there know how to fix this?

yea i got it to work. Not the hammer part, I guess you have to set the Pdanet thing to private and not public, then it works.

The only thing I've been able to successfully tether my droid with is my ipod touch and also usb tether it with an app called pdanet along with a program on xp.
I don't know how to scan for routers on my pc cuz I'm a noob and both my ps3 and psp don't seem to pick up my droid's access point, I don't know why....:(

just dont do this too much - as unlimited data doesnt necessarily mean unlimited

you use too much bandwidth, they cancel your acct

    just dont push it

Cancel as in kill your contract? That would be pretty sweet.

This might sound rude but get a legit ISP. The connection you will get if you succeeded would be horrible anyway. You can't play games and if you could it would lag so bad you wouldn't have any fun playing. Downloads would also take forever. That is why PlayStation says you need broadband internet. A 3g connection just wont cut it.

Pros of tethering your Droid to your PS3:

No need to pay for extra internet connection.

Cons of tethering your Droid to your PS3:

Slow download speed. Incoming call will kill your online gaming. Other gamers will hate you for the above reasons. Verizon can kill your contract if you go nuts (it has happened), slapping you with the early termination fee, plus any data they can prove went to your PS3 instead of just your phone at the highest rate they charge, plus refuse to ever give you a contract again, plus they might even go so far as to kill the IMEI so you can't even sell the phone except as parts.

    No LAG on PS3 tethered......

To all the people claiming LAG and Verizon ending contracts, not enough bandwidth for games......WRONG. I have been tethering to my PS3 since I had my LG Dare (Not even 3G speeds). Did that for a year and a half then my Palm Pre for the last year, now the Droid Incredible(Rooted), I do have an unlimited data plan(Grandfathered old version of unlimited, not the new 5gig crap). I'm constantly on Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops - LAG FREE....if you root your Droid and use wireless tether, you have NO VZAccess Manager installed and there is no tracking of data usage but do not know if you are pushing your luck without unlimited. Simply using MobileHotspot won't lag you out, if it does then contact your carrier.

Phone 3G data packages are still unlimited. Only thing that has caps is tablets, netbooks, and legitimate tethering plans from verizon

Right. WiFi Hotspot is limited to 2GB, though, before you have to pay more.
