E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted

Ok it's not finding the file. Are you sure it's update.zip and not update.zip.zip?

i'm a noob! oh man i think that might have been it. i thought i was looking in the right place to check that but i wasn't. it was zip zip

edit: that worked, i'm so thankful to all of you, i appreciate your help. now hopefully i don't get stuck on the next step

Hey believe me when I say this.....we have all done this. So not a noob mistake really.

yep....just make a backup before you install anything new. also its good to wipe data and cache when installing new roms for a clean install. good luck.
