Gave me the following message:
E:failed to read footer from /sdcard/update.zip
(Is a directory)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

I've never seen footer!

The file is on the root of your sdcard (not in any folders) right?

It's named update.zip not update.zip.zip right?

also it's case sensitive needs to be all lowercase.

Okay I used a PC to root but currently use a Mac to flash new roms or themes. I have seen this error before and everytime I have seen it, it was due to the name of the file.

First things first. You have to get rooted and flash an alternate recovery. I believe you said you have stock recovery. So if I understand you correctly, when you power off then hold the x key and power key to power back up do you see a Triangle with an exclamation point or do you see blue writing with an android figure under it?

I don't know what the problem could be if it's named right.

Can you get access to a windows PC? RSD usually only takes about 10-15 min to flash back to stock.

Edit: ooops just saw your post. Yeah you lost root somehow. I know that there are guides on here somewhere and I will try to find them for rooting using a Mac.

Try this....... do not put .zip after it. Name it only "update" and then put it on your sd card and try to install. I have a feeling the extension .zip is hidden. Thus you see update.zip but the phone sees update.zip.zip

Okay I just checked with a couple of other RS members and one of them suggested you could try one of the one click root methods but understand that it may not work or may have glitches and if so you would still have to get to a pc to fix root.

When you hold up on the dpad while booting it should take you to the bootloader screen. It's a black screen with white text. It'll say something like batt OK, OK to program.
