Here's the story thus far: I've been running UDv8 for the last 2 days (was DM for a few weeks) and was having NO problems. I even had a nandroid backup from this morning. I was reading about Rom Manager so I thought I'd buy it & play around just to feel it out. I downloaded Cyanogen 5.5, just to have there as an option, but it came up with a window - well if you can help me, you already know about the window. I know I could have hit back, but I clicked OK hoping that with nothing selected it would not do anything. You know what happened next, it rebooted & started installing.
I was angry about this and proceeded to do something incredibly stupid. I pulled the battery the second I saw what it was doing (thought it would at least prompt me).
So now I can't boot into anything except Koush's recovery. So I go into nandroid and click restore and it tells me it can't find anything! I hooked up to USB & mounted and my backups are in the nandroid folder and my SD card looks fine, so I don't get it. But this is my first go with this recovery image - was using the trusty 99.2...series prior to this ROM manager today.

OK, so I figured I'd flash the old recovery image & then restore. Well I hardly know anything about Linux/Android language, but I can follow directions and I've done a few things with adb commands via sdk since owning the Droid. So following a few instructions, I tried all of the commands below.

So I'm guessing I simply have a permissions or directory issue, but I don't know the commands to dig myself out of this. Or if someone can tell me how to get this Clockworkmod recovery to see my nandroid backups, that would work too.

Any help appreciated. Feel free to poke fun at my dumb ass.

For a newb...you been around the block:)

    How to unroot cyanogenmod

I haven't used cyanegenmod but my understanding is you need sprecovery for your nandroid restores and cyanogen uses a different bootloader. You only can use one at a time. My advice is to work through the above thread, then once things are stable again decide where you want to go from there.

edit: again, my understanding means your question here:
Or if someone can tell me how to get this Clockworkmod recovery to see my nandroid backups, that would work too.
has an answer of "impossible". You need to reload sprecovery to get your nandroid backups restored.

Thank you. I'd love to avoid that, but I'll do it here in a few if I have to.

Yeah, I see after some reading that they are incompatible. Suuucks. Looks like Koush is the one who has stayed with the standards though.

I would think I should be able to flash the SP recovery - I just wish I knew what I was doing wrong.

Actually no that link doesn't help. If I could install something I'd be fine. The problem is all I have is Koush's recovery & it doesn't see anything available for install.

I "think" you can reinstall sprecovery (see the first section of link 1 below) to do your nandroid stuff. I've seen other posts where folks uninstall one boot loader then reinstall the other...depending on what they need/want to do. This is also the area where folks get stuck and need to uninstall stuff too. Do some more reading and rest assured...bricked you aren't:)

Follow the link at the bottom of my post about rom manger and clockwork. It'll geT you back where you want to be without unrooting.

I got it. Thank you both for your replies. But I was able to navigate through the clockworkmod folder & find the 5.5 rom. I installed that, flashed the sd recovery & then restored to this morning. Woohoo!

Kansas - I'm loving your link though. That's a keeper.
