My friend is in Canada right now with the global email plan on her Droid 1. She forgot to update her PRL using *228 before she left, and I figure this is the reason she cannot get a data connection. Voice and text works fine. Reboots did not fix the issue either.

Verizon has no way to push the updated PRL to her phone. She is rooted, is there a way it could be updated using an update.zip format through clockwork recovery?

IF so, could one of you kind members create an update.zip package with the latest PRL for me? Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

by using the *228 opt#2 (*22899) you are manually updating the PRL from the verizon servers. there is no actual file to flash.

there is a tool called CDMA Workshop. it allows you to change/program almost all aspects of your droid. *CAUTION* use of this tool can possibly render your device unusable.

    Droid 1: Latest PRL updated 11/15/10 @ 3:03pm central time zone: 52105
there may be newer or others but that is what mine shows.

make sure your have the device drivers installed for your droid. good luck

If she's in Canada and doesn't have the Canada plan, she's MUCH better off not getting a 3G connection because you pay by the kilobyte while roaming. It'll get VERY expensive VERY quickly. If she can't get WiFi as well, then she needs to try something other than PRLing it.

*22899 is the direct number if she's insisting on updating her PRL.

It just randomly started working. Weird I know right?
She has global email for while she's gone which includes unlimited data for 60 dollars a month. *22899 Still would have no chance of ever working. Because verizon doesn't own any of the towers they can't link up and sync the latest prl.

Thanks for the advice! I'm kind of sad I don't get to play with the software because it's working now. =P
