I have absolutely NO data service on my phone right now at all, calls come through fine, WiFi works, but I cannot get a 1x or 3g connection at all, and for over 12 hours now. I've been scanning the net for outage reports in the Long Island / NYC area, but nothing at all. Tried three different Roms, all with full wipe, same result. Is my phone dead?

Try to re-activate your phone. Dial #228 and follow instructions.

I know you said you did this but try this for me. Hopefully you're using clockwork for recovery because that's what i'm using to explain these steps.

    Download SS 5.4
Reboot into recovery like you're going to flash the ROM.
    Wipe data/factory reset 3 times
    Wipe cache partition 3 times
Go to advanced and wipe dalvik 3 times

    Reboot back into recovery.

Flash ROM and tell me if this worked, if not then I honestly don't know.

Hmm ... just tossing out some other ideas. I suppose you have not changed your baseband recently and something went wrong with that? Did you try to toggle airplane mode, just for the sake of it?

thats the 1st keyboard they used, if you had a bubble keyboard those were introduced later in production.

Same here, I have a replaced Droid1 as well and its flat too. My first one had the slightly raised keyboard, (bought it in June of 2010 phone wiped itself out and had nothing in the phone's internal memory nor on the sdcard) verizon sent out a replacement and I sent it back due to charging issues, got another one and noticed it had a flat keyboard, didn't even know there are two styles of this.

    ROOTED: OG Droid1, Rzrecovery2.0.3
    ROM: Simply Stunning v5.4
    KERNAL: ChevyNo1 lv1.0
    THEME: GoLauncher ex, Glow

Well I got mine in december after they had come out in Nov. Mine is flat and shortly after I got mine I started seeing post (with pics) of other users that had received droids with bubble keyboards. There were some ppl wishing there's would break so that they could get a replacement with bubble letters.
