People said when I updated to froyo 2.2 it took away my root. So I tried rooting again with z4root and with universal androot. It gave me a log.txt of the root process.

Try again using this method and let me know how it goes.
[GUIDE] FroYo 2.2.1 for Root Users! (Updated 3/3/2011 at 3:40 pm EST - NOW EASIER THAN EVER!) - Android Forums

The reason it didn't work is because when the Ally updated to 2.2 ALL the 1click methods for rooting were patched and no longer work.

That would have been nice to know.

    I haven't tried.
On my other post I'm just wondering because if I root and then update then it just won't be worth the time. Unless its a worthless update then I'm just gonna follow through with the root and not update. I'm just wondering what I should do. Update or root and not update
