Help making themes

There are quite a few guides by some of the top themers here. Find anyone with an "Official Themer" badge and click on it. Follow thebowers, xkape, and B-Boy's guides and you can learn some REALLY tricky stuff! Happy theming sir!

I don't have a D2 therefore I never themed a ROM for it, but I'd be happy to give you some pointers I would assume are universal across different devices.

That's really right on! Thanks man! Ok, can you recommend a starting guide or something? I'm very comfortable using Photoshop. I have either CS3 or CS4. I know how to create images, backgrounds, icons, etc.

When I first started, xml edits and .9 pngs scared the bejesus out of me LOL. So, I pretty much stuck with straight png icon edits/replacements using 7zip and paint.net. I concentrated on section 2 from that guide above. I tinkered around with just playing with images for several months before I got into xml edits and .9 pngs - but then again I am stupid

I believe the links above would apply to the D2 framework-res.apk as well ... not 100% sure though.
This all probably seems pretty overwhelming LOL But if you take it one step at a time you should be OK. In other words, don't set out to change all the images and all the .9's and make several xml edits your first go round! I recommend you pick one thing, whether it be images, .9's or xml edits and concentrate on that for a while until you get the hang of it.

Don't say I didn't warn you :tongue: In all seriousness though, theming is an extremely time consuming endevour that has a very addictive appeal to it. Continue with caution

Once you start getting into this, it will CONSUME your life!! You will become obsessed with trying to figure this stuff out and you will constantly be thinking, "I wonder how I can ... (insert several scenarios here)". You will find yourself spending hours in front of the computer, sometimes in utter frustration - other times in utter disbelief at the things you just accomplished! Sometimes you will spend hour upon hour in front of the computer only to realize you accomplished absolutely nothing!

Thanks much for taking all the time to put that together for me. I've been developing Internet Applications and doing database work for 16 years now. I know how I am. I am exactly as you say. This will fully consume me until I consider myself decent at it. So that likely means forever....

No problem ... good luck to ya!
Not really ... it can all be done with 7zip, APK manager, paint.net (GIMP or PS) and note pad plus.
