Both. I retried the process, and get to

Install/sdcard/update.zip (depreciated)

now I get the message

E: Can't Mount SDCARD.update.zip
Installation aborted

Which ROM are you installing?

I don't know. I just went by the process listed above.

Ok from looking at the guide you used I couldn't find where it recommended a rom, I think the author just implied that you already have one. What you need to do first is find a rom file, that can be done via google search (try cyanogenmod or lithium mod for starters) or just browse the custom roms section of the forums. once you decide on one, download it - its going to be a .zip file that's 70 - 80mb. This is the file you will be renaming update.zip. once you have this file, go ahead and try the process again. If you need any additional help, just shoot me an email - [email protected]

The problem actually turned out to be lack of a rom file for the update.zip installation. I emailed back and forth with him for a few and he was able to sucessfully load lithium mod. The guide he used is excellent, however it does not include an actual rom file.

Problem solved
