Help! I am stuck on the white M screen

I have a rooted Motorola Droid, after updating a kernel I am unable get past the white M on the booting screen.

I have tried holding power and 'x' to get into recovery, but it goes straight to the white M boot up screen and hangs there.

I can get into Bootloader by holding up on the D pad while booting, but not sure what to do from here.

How long have you tried holding the x to boot into recovery?

I have tried it for about 30 second or so...should i hold it longer???

I tried waiting out the White M for about 45 minutes hoping it would eventually move on but nothing.....

Alright I tried to reboot and held down poewr and X for what was close to five mintues.....just when I was ready to give up....BOOM! Made it to clockwork and was able to use Nandroid to flash my backup.
