Hi I installed BB 7.4 and have been very happy with it. I am trying to install BB 7.6 and am having trouble.

I deleted the update 7.4 from my phone and copied the 7.6 update file(it's the zipped update(2) from the alldroid link) to my computer and then to the root of my phone. It shows up as update(2) in astro file manager so it appears to be on my phone but
when I boot into recovery and try to install I do the usual allow update.zip and then try to install the update.zip deprecated file and I get the response
E: Can't open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory)
as if the phone doesn't recognize it's there.

Not sure what's going on here. I know Pete's post mentions uninstalling apk and odex files if upgrading from prior.7 versions and when I look through the files on my phone beautiful widgets as well as a couple other apps look like apk and I didn't delete those files before trying the new update. Could that be the problem?

    Any help is much appreciated.:)

Its needs to be name "update.zip" Absolutly nothing eles. The phone wont know unless you name it that. if it means u deleting the other update file you can dweet. (jamaican for ""do it"
    lol.)

Yeah you need to delete the (2) from the update(2).zip

It only named it that because you had another update.zip file on your sdcard....if 2 files have the exact same name any computer does this....

It HAS to be named update.zip to be recognized in the recovery menu

    I think you're right. I didn't rename it.
I'll try it later, I have to go to a circuit analysis class(yay!.......) soon.
Will update later but I think you nailed it. Thanks.
Edit: Thanks Nate, yeah when i first downloaded it to my phone the old update folder was still there...
