    Just to confirm, you've tried a restart & battery pull. No boot animation exists and nothing ever appears on the screen.

    Can you try powering on holding down the volume button?

    So I take it this is not a d3 since you have a camera button. That would make a bit of difference on which keys to press. Either way, sounds like you're dead in the liquid crystals.

    Moved this to the BB section since you're running it and not a D3.

    end of line...

    Posted to Tech and to BB as there might be different answers that might all give insight.

    Any suggestions on what to do?

    Since I can see connection with RSD Lite after powering on holding down vol + Camera buttons (thought no screen) I'm reading this thread on
    Getting back to stock with RSDLite

    Can't see screen - Held Down Volume + Camera Buttons + pwr - waited 30 sec (ought to be in btldr screen)
    Connected to RSDLite / Selected sbf / Flashed sbf 100%

    SBF Files (Flash Using RSD Lite)
    FRG22D = VZW_A855_FRG22D_QSC6085BP_C_01.43.01P_SW_UPDATE.sbf
    Then reflashed with
    FRG83G = VZW_A855_FRG83G_QSC6085BP_C_01.43.01P_SW_UPDATE.sbf
    Motorola_End_User_Driver_Installation_5.2.0_32bit.msi - Droid drivers 32 Bit USB

    After flashing with RSDLite5.0:

    Flashing to a stock SBF erases everything on the phone and reverses it to a stock DROID. Right? Need to get it unrooted to exchange with Vz due to liquid crystal defective screen. Mftr's defect / warranty.

    i had this issue with mine as well. sadly it was after i dropped it. however i was able to fix it.
    what i did was simply hit the top of the phone against my hand a couple times and it worked just fine after that. happened to me twice and my father once. it's odd yes...but it worked for me.

    Tried tapping phone - looking at it and staring it down! :reddroid: just kidding on the last part. Nothing.

    Tried again pwr + X to see if rec menu appears. Nothing. Blank screen. Red light appears where the notification LED is. Was blue with BB 6.2.1. Vz said alot of times it's a software issue. Simple to fix.

    Removed battery. Pwred up. Blank screen. Return | Menu | Home | Search bar lights. Hitting pwr briefly suts them off. Briefly again turns them on. Pulled pwr USB chord. Added batttery. No red notification light . Blank screen. Return | Menu | Home | Search bar lights. Hitting pwr briefly shuts them off. Briefly again turns them on. Pulled battery. Pwred up without battery by USB Wall charger. Red Light is on upper right corner. Must be charging light indicator. Turning on / off menu lights red light stays on.

    Flashed sbf:
    FRG22D = VZW_A855_FRG22D_QSC6085BP_C_01.43.01P_SW_UPDATE.sb f

    Then flashed:
    FRG83G = VZW_A855_FRG83G_QSC6085BP_C_01.43.01P_SW_UPDATE.sb f

    Device status in RSDLite5.0 after sbf flash:

    IMEI/ESN/MEID: N / A
    Technology: N / A
    Software Version: N / A
    Flex Version: N / A
    Bootloader Version: v0x002C7C
    DRM Version: N / A
    AP Die ID: 1ca000181f630304000000000400
    BP Die ID: 0000000000000000000000000000
    AP Public ID: ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
    BP Public ID: 0000000000000000000000000000000000000000

    Reason for second flash: so phone would have a recent stock rom. Both times RSDlite rebooted phone after flashing. From what I read, flashing sbf removes all data; however, people still advise after flashing sbf, to boot into rec and do factory reset to wipe data/cache. As screen is blank, even if I could boot into recovery, can't see to choose factory reset.

    Googling -does flashing SBF wipe data
    Get this: WARNING: FLASHING THIS SBF FILE WILL ERASE ALL DATA ON YOUR DROID X! Droid / Droid/X - same system.

    Pete asks us to wipe data / cache 3X before flashing roms -why not just flash roms without wiping data/ cache? He's worried there might be data from before that was not erased. So far: Flashed with sfb from Pete with latest RSDLite / Moto USB 32 bit drivers. Screen is blank.

    Guru Question of the Day: Can I factory reset from RSDLite (with blank screen)?

    If you flash with RSDLite it should be considered a complete wipe, except for your info on sdcard.

    Just a final test - rooted the replacement droid. Then unrooted by using the same RSDlite method as above. Difference is this droid I can see the screen.

    Was on activation Droid logo for Android Version 2.2.2 that comes from: VZW_A855_FRG83G_QSC6085BP_C_01.43.01P_SW_UPDATE.sbf

    Replacement Droid recycles powering on - except when USB charging. Then hitting the pwr butting makes the droid sleep. Hitting it briefly then brings it out of sleep. This is with USB plugged in. Taking off USB cable charging and you're back to constant rebooting.

    DSLLite5.0 - Unrooted to VZW_A855_FRG83G_QSC6085BP_C_01.43.01P_SW_UPDATE.sbf
    I wonder should I have unrooted first to DSL Lite to VZW_A855_FRG22D_QSC6085BP_C_01.43.01P_SW_UPDATE.sbf first? Then OTA update?

    Can you believe this? The Droid that lost it's screen - screen had absolutely no picture - regained its screen working perfectly again after sitting for two days in a box w/o power. Sleep ftn works too.

    Amazing...... did pwr+x into rec - then volUp + camera button to get to menu to do data hard reset.

    Droids are on their own wavelength..............

    Long ago, I had a similar "Lights Out" issue... I dropped my D1 and thought the LCD was busted because the screen wouldn't light up anymore. Thinking it was done for good I smacked the phone with my fist and the screen suddenly lit up! I've never had the issue again, but I'm definitely weary of it these days...
