HElp double capital

ABout ten days ago or so when I got up I looked at the phone and it had something about an update. Its a touch phone, sooooooo my finger hit update before I knew it. It was from verizon or samsung or droid. Not a normal app update and there were three buttons at the bottom. Anyway, since that day, when I start out with any type if text, it makes the first 2 capital....like the beginning of this post. Gets annoying when on facebook or texting. Does anyone know what has happened to me? There is also a new symbol next to my 3g internet symbol. Its a square on its side with little lines in the right...its not bluetooth or wifi either. Help......
