Ok, so I've been posting in threads and creating my own threads in hope I could find help on the last thing I need to customize on my Motorola Droid until it will feel completely like my own... The last thing I need to do to it is change the "Verizon Wireless" banners on the lock screen and the pulldown bar. I want the banner to say "Life is hollow" but everything I've tried hasn't worked, so now i'm hoping to find someone who might be willing to create an update.zip file that contains a edited eri.xml fine with the banner changed to "Life is hollow" for me. I want the update to just be a normal 2.1 rooted update file, nothing special because I'll be redownloading my apps, re applying my ROM, and redoing my entire setup. I have tried using pulldown editor, he doesn't have support for my ROM, and I have tried to edit my own update.zip file which didn't work, and I tried using Terminal emulator to push my own frameworks-res.apk file with the command sysrw, none of which worked, the only thing I haven't tried is having someone who knows what they're doing make me an update.zip file and someone said something about doing adb push, which I have no clue what that is, or how to even attempt it. Any help will be greatly appreciated... Hoping to finally make this droid completely customized to my liking... pls help me...

-Go in framework>xml>eri.xml (drag it onto your desktop)

    -Download HxD (hex editor)

-Right click the xml file, click open with HxD.

-Scroll down to where it says verizon wireless, and select the text.

-Type in your own text (16 characters or less)

-If you have left over slots, make sure you insert spaces.

-Save it. (file size should NOT change, or else it will not work)

-Drag that file into framework>xml and it will overwrite the current eri.xml

-Then use adb to push the framework-res.apk (the whole thing!) into /system/framework

    Hope this helps.

killabyte - Kind of randome... I don't listen to either of those bands, may I ask why you would ask that in this thread lol?

Microsnook - I have no experience using ADB to push files, I didn't want to harm my phone at all... I was hoping to find someone who could make me an update.zip file of rooted 2.1 that has the banner changed for me... but i will be trying the ADB push method shortly...

ok, just tried the ADB push... no dice, i couldn't install the android SDK... I don't know why but it wouldn't install... I looked up tons of directions and help forums... nothing worked... so now I have to bank on someone being able to help me and make the update.zip file rooted 2.1 with an edited eri.xml file to have a banner saying "Life is hollow"... Someone please help me out... I know it doesn't talk long to extract the file, edit it, and replace it in the framework-res.apk then replace the framework-res.apk in the update.zip file because I have done all of that, it just never worked for me... please someone help me out...

Don't worry about it I didn't feel that way. It's text. It can be read many different ways. I should have read the OP.
