Hello everybody, I bricked mine today, did the RSD lite method to get back to 2.01 & then wanting to root it so I could restore previous image thru update.zip but when booting to the recovery screen I can scrol up & down but nothing happens when I press the camera button. On the screen this error shows: E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command is there something I'm missing here? Thanks for the help/input.:)

so you went back to 2.01. ummm the easier way to do this would be to download DMupdater from the market and let it do the rooting for you :)

or get the Droidmod Updater from there site http://droidmod.org/category/dmupdater/

You have to press the center button of the dpad to select things in the stock recovery. Same thing with Clockworkmod.

Oh, and you didn't brick your phone. If you did it wouldn't have turned on. TYVM :p

Yea, it can be. But what about those who use DroidMod to root their phone and then don't understand what to do when their phone gets stuck at the M logo or a boot loop, then claim they've bricked their phones?

i used Droidmod to originally root and stayed with it for a while and then switched to pete's and such and kept switching.

Yes droidmod does all the work for you and makes rooting easy but the one who does it should be smart enough to read around on the forums and get a little knowledge about it like i did :)

Wish we could educate the masses on what bricked means....

And also "ironic" .... I hate the misuse of that word too...

i wish we could educate the masses on what bricked means also.

but ill say it in here, bricked means that your phone is NOTHING more than a BRICK. like the kind of bricks you see in walls. it doesnt work AT ALL. if your phone turns on then it is NOT bricked :)

Very true. It does take some level of understanding to get out of sticky situations. Researching the forums definitely helps and should be a prerequisite to rooting.

And "ironic" is not when you see your best friend from high school, who you haven't seen for years, and he has a droid too...... thats coincidence

Ironic is when you think you bricked your phone.... you tried everything.... you tried pulling the battery... you tried holding power "x"... and with a final pissed off scream you throw it as hard as you can at the wall... just as it leaves your hand you see the screen light up and it rings with that hot chicks personal ringtone just before it smashes to pieces against the wall...

    DROIDS DON'T BRICK BABY!!!!

Edit: I know... way off topic but I was on a roll
