The dock is more convenient than the cable alone. I've been leaving it plugged into the charger and and AVR so I can just drop the phone in and start using it while charging. It gives you access to the Webtop app. It is also more stable as far as the connection goes; I had an issue with the micro HDMI cable being a tad loose and dropping the connection when I moved the phone. More than likely my cheapo cable, but it works fine in the dock.
So far I'm mainly using mine to listen to Jango and Pandora over my home stereo which has an available HDMI port on the AVR. It sounds very good. I also can watch youtube videos and look at my pictures on my plasma. I might end up using the webtop in hotels, but so far I'm still carrying a laptop so I haven't done that yet.
