Most of you know Hashcode as the awesome developer who has made Cyanogen a reality for devices with locked down bootloaders like the whole Droid Razr lineup! The latest edition of the Kindle Fire is as locked down as a device can be. However Hashcode has not let this get in his way! He now has a method for installing CM10.1 to your Kindle Fire 2! This is not for the light hearted. This is not a one click method. You will need a working fastboot cable $25 or a factory cable adaptor $10 (this is what i use). You will need to have adb set up and you will need to be able to follow directions very carefully. The method looks to take about 10 minutes or so. Once finished you will have a highly functional vanilla jelly bean Android tablet!
