Has anyone tried to sue Verizon over "unlimited" data plan not being unlimited?

I've never seen that setting... although I haven't thoroughly looked into but I haven't seen any settings at all on Netflix

I regularly use over 5GB if I find a good series to watch on Netflix, also I've never heard a single complaint from Verizon about my data usage...so unlimited was/is unlimited...they probably said otherwise in store to "help save the network" so not everyone will go crazy with data usage

They advertise that we can netflix and share hotspots.... They don't tell us itll cost an extra arm and a leg to do it. 2gig is one and a half movies a month.

    Data U

I've only had my new Charge for 36 hours and have used nearly 1GB without tethering. Pandora, youtube, emailing large pictures and general surfing. Its just so damn fast compared to my wife Droid x on the 3G network. Those on LTE without unlimited plans are screwed IMHO!

I actually still have a 3g usb air card still on an unlimited data plan. Supposedly it was only introductory, as I went into Verizon once and the guy behind the counter said he was surprised it was still unlimited. He said he wasn't going to mess with it and I still have the unlimited data plan. I'm wondering if I upgrade to a 4g air card will I keep my unlimited data plan for it.

Someone should stream HD movies on their phone for a month straight using Hulu/Netflix and see how high they can get their unlimited data to go.
Now that would be a sight to see

I wonder what the highest someones used recently and if they got called up for it. I should google this..

Edit - I'm finding people on Android forums saying they've used up to 85-119gigs. O.O

Lol, they are almost DEFINITELY illegally tethering then...I think Verizon might look into that type of usage if it occurs all the time with no tethering plan

Edit: maybe I'll start using Pandora again (I usually listen to music all night when I go to bed but lately I've just been using my music) and I'll really start trying to watch entire series's more on Netflix and see just how much data I can use lol (already at about 6gigs for this month)

Haha I completely agree! I used to leave Pandora on at night when I slept lol, no idea how much data I used up though. I didn't pay much attention then.

Someone wrote, "The most I used was in January 119gb. My plan only allows 500mb after that it's .05 a kb. Still paying that bill off."

Wow.. that's got to be a lot of money..

And that's how it should be. So sad that people have to pay 80bucks for 10gigs to be safe enough to use heavy data usage apps "safely" when us people grandfathered in get well over that for 30bucks.

No I'm grandfathered in. I've been unlimited for years since my alias2. Hence, my opposition to being double charged for data whether I tether or not. Unlimited is unlimited. There has to be some recourse for us. They cannot seriously charge us twice for the same data packet.... And don't give me that crap about us signing a TOS about sharing data on other devices when they advertise we can hotspot to all our friends. There has to be a class action morgan & morgan anti price gouge thing in the works.

    Free my already overpriced data!

Edit: just a thought.... But say I share a hotspot with some coworkers. One of these coworkers decides to do something nefarious like download kiddie porn or some other nastiness... Is my hotspot responsible?

Firstly, I agree with you about the double charge on UNLIMITED data. If it's unlimited and I can use as much as I want, what does it matter what device is using the data? What's the difference if I use 10gigs on my phone or on my laptop through hotspot? Some people say well you'll pull more data through a laptop than a phone, but if I have UNLIMITED wth does it matter? It shouldn't.
    /end rant

Secondly, regarding the kiddie porn question, I would say no. Wouldn't that be like holding an ISP responsible? And you'd be "providing" internet for said person. I have no idea if I'm correct or not, but that would be my guess.

Oh no. I understood that you were GF'ed in. I'm saying how it's kind of sad people have to pay 80 bucks for 10gigs of memory while we get to pay 30 for unlimited.. more then 10gigs. But, I really can't complain since I'm good. Others really can't either I suppose. What's done is done, unless everyone starts boycotting I doubt there will be a change. So if that's the case.. go to Sprint or Boost Mobile.
