I'm afraid I might brick my phone but I'm seeing if anyone tried it yet.

I would recommend just using THIS METHOD. It may seem long but it really isn't - and it is not hard at all. If you can copy/paste and follow simple directions you can handle it.
I did it in two stages because I have a wife and 2 kids :D First I set up ADB and downloaded all the needed files. Then (once I finally got some peace and quiet) I sat down and tackled the root process. Total time at the PC between the two sessions was an hour or so ... not bad at all

I've been playing with superoneclick on the thunderbolt and no such luck.

It does root, but every time I reboot it unroots.
So I'm searching around for an easy one click.
