Handy List of Current Android Phones with Stagefright Patches

We found this handy list of current (as of the time of this post) Android phones which now have the Stagefright patch. If your phone isn't on this list you are vulnerable, but we suspect your OEM is working on it now. Of course, if you have an older device, that might not be the case. Also, you have another option to protect your device from Stagefright. You can disable auto-retrieve for MMS. It might make it a bit less user-friendly, but it could be worth it.

Stagefright is an exploit that could theoretically allow someone to take control of your phone. It is injected via the way Google handles media in Android. It would most likely be delivered to your phone via SMS.

To make sure that you protect yourself until a patch is released for your device you can simply turn off auto retrieval of SMS photos, sounds, videos, etc.

The stock Samsung text app and most other third party apps have it within the app's settings.

That's very strange. I got another update to my G2 about the same time as my Note4 and haven't seen anything anywhere as to what it was for. Since its the one my daughter is now using she brought it to me and said something was wrong with the phone, that it'd started looking funny so she brought it to me. Sure enough it was installing a firmware upgrade but had already updated to 5.0.2 weeks prior. I was hoping to find that that's what it was because I have no idea what it was or how big it was. Until then every update had been manually accepted. This one pushed and installed on its own.

Don't most third party messaging apps already block offending SMS?
