    Greetings,
I just got the GzOne Commando last week. I am a former Droid 1 owner.

Some of these questions may have already been dealt with earlier, but I didn't find them:

The Gz is loaded with junk that I don't want and can't get rid of - How can I free myself of apps that load themselves into memory and hog space? Is rooting the "answer?" things like VX Navigator (6.7 mB), Skype, etc.

Other apps including all the Verizon stuff - I can't seem to delete. Ideas?

    Thanks for your consideration.

    Rooting is your answer.

After rooting install an app called Titanium Backup. This will allow you to get rid of the bloat.

What you should do though is Freeze the apps. Freezing them will disable the app, and allow you to see if there are any ill effects to getting rid of a certain app.

    Agreed - freeze don't delete.

Also / But - there's another thread going that describes how create a 'recovery'. It seems a little too 'over my head' to try, but I assume you could create a recovery and create backups then delete apps and if you have problems in the future you can return to device back to day 1.

Here's that thread: All In One Recovery Thread - Android Forums

Right now I plan on sticking with a rooted 2.2 using Titanium. It appears as there seems to be no advantage going to 2.3 - in fact some say they wish they could go back to rooted 2.2. Until I hear/see better, I'm sticking with what I have.

PS - sorry to post links of another forum, but there is more activity over there. I been reading and keeping track of both forums and these are my first posts on either of them.
