Ahh that makes much more sense haha
alright so i did all the steps and my phone looks/runs exactly the same the only difference is i have an app called superuser... this is my first time rooting... what do i do now?
No problem always glad to help.
The first thing you can do is install apps that require root permissions like titanium backup or rom manager, but those 2 are mostly used for (what i consider the best part of being rooted) installing custom roms onto your phone. A rom is basicly the operating system your phone runs on so by installing new hacker-made roms will let you use alot of new features. But probably the most visible thing to do to your phone once you're rooted is installing system-wide themes. I don't think there are very many yet for the DINC2 but developer/themer support is probably about to take a huge jump.
when i try and use titanium backup it says i don't have root access..... could this be because when i try and download superuser/root .zip it saves as su-22.214.171.124-ef-signed.zip ?
Yes that is exactly right. There are 2 ways you could fix this, the easier way is to download "busybox" and update SuperUser strait from the market but probably the faster (more risky?) way would be to download the updated SuperUser .zip file from the OP and flash that in recovery.
I'm stuck at waiting for device, I have the drivers installed. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, restarting. Nothing is working.
Make sure USB debugging is on and fastboot is off in your settings. I'm betting thats where the problem is. Other than that I would suggest trying a different USB port? or USB cable if you aren't using the one that came with your phone?
So I when I enter the beta key I received, it keeps saying it's invalid. I've made sure that I wasn't entering it wrong, by putting the font in Microsoft word so that I know that I'm entering the right characters. Could there be any explanation as to why it's doing that? (other than I'm putting in the wrong key lol.)
haha my first suggestion would be to type it in right. But assuming you got that right (not quite an easy assumption) maybe you entered the serial # wrong? at that point in the process nothing has actually been done to your phone so your safe to exit everything, re-download the file and start over.
That could be a possibility, ill try redownloading when I get home. Thanks for all the help!
