Greetings and Good Mileage from Old Devices

Hello and good afternoon from Central California, where it is, still, well over 100 degrees F for oh... two weeks now!

I'm a first-generation Android phone owner, having acquired an HTC Thunderbolt in March of 2011. I still have that phone, and as it ages, is turning into a love/hate relationship.

I'd like to try and get as much mileage out of it as possible though, so I am not opposed to Rooting it and trying to reclaim some functionality and freeing it from the bondage of Verizon-mandated bloatware that it still has, and that I have never used.

So, where is a good place to get started on here?

if your having some issues with your phone, you may want to elaborate so its better to assist you.
rooting and deleting bloat really isnt going to do anything to fix problems if your freezing apps you dont use anyways.
