So when I activate the GPS I get the warnings that other applications can track my location, I am trying to surprise someone will using this really show my location without my knowledge?

it's for applications that are location based (where, layar, foursquare, google maps). unless someone installed an app on your phone without your knowledge, it is highly unlikely others can know your location without your consent

Don't worry, you must have apps that require permission for location tracking to do that. They have apps that can identify permissions associated with all of your installed apps on the market.
