That's a very good question. I've used it since it was in beta, but only for fb messages.

It asks if you'd like to use it for sms when you first set it up, but I'm not seeing an option to do so.

I'm guessing you could sign out and back in & it'd ask. Might have to clear data and cache though. Strange there isn't an option to turn it on or off like hangouts does.

Does Hangouts allow you to integrate FB and SMS?

Nope. Just hangouts messages, google voice sms & carrier sms.

I prefer fb messages to be separate. Again, all a matter of preference.

Your fb messages are all stored on their servers though, so if you clear data on the app, it should reset. You'll have to login again (simple enough if you're already logged in to the main app) and it should ask if you want to integrate sms. Then it'll sync your fb messages and you'll be good to go.

It's never asked to integrate SMS. Are you sure it's FB Messenger?

That's weird. You're right. I just cleared cache & data on mine & went through the setup. It used to ask. Thought it still did. Maybe they removed it when they required everyone to use it...

Well, back to square one. I've looked at IM+, but they don't support SMS.

I used to use Handcent. I'm sure you're familiar with it. Even though I just used it for texting, if you were to scroll sideways through the screens there'd be tons upon tons of additional options. Has anyone messed around with that? I'm pretty sure it has Moip integration.

Side note: I'm hoping this messenger app will have pop ups added soon
