Google voice question

Hey all,

When I had GV on my blackberry, it always dialed out using the same #. So I put that # in my friends and family, so basically I didn't use any minutes. Now though, on the Droid X, it seems like every now and then that # it's dialing changes?!

Is this normal/expected?

Also, is there no way to have the google voice icon display an asterisk or anything (like on the BB) when there is a new message?

The call quality is such crap I can't justify using it anyway. It's great for unlimited texts and visual voice mail though.

So, I found the previous version of GV prior to this update and I don't know how to install/use it. It's an apk file and not sure what to do with it. When connecting my phone via mass storage, I only have access to the SD card, not the internal 8gb where the app is installed.

Any advice would be appreciated.
