google voice - HELP!

Ok, got an invite (bought it, thanks for the hint!) but I don't know if I want the VM or google number?
Which do you recommend? Is there no way to get both with one invite, or do I need to buy another invite to get both?

I recommend GV only because of the Transcribe feature and also Visual Voicemail

OK, for future reference I got the Google VM and from within there was able to choose a google number, so two birds, one stone.

That's what I did. Got a number with my name as part of it and use my phone with their voice mail. Transcribing is actually better than I thought.

The voicemails i get, the transcribing is horrible.

Have you tried to install the GV app, and running it? It took a couple of tries to get my number verified, but I got my google voice with out an invite.
