I went in and redid all the drawable-hdpi files in google talk to get the color scheme I wanted. Did not change any sizes or any files other than the .png files. So I rezipped it moved it to my sdcard renamed it to the Talk.apk.

used the terminal to move it back into the /system/app. It works all my color changes are there looks good. But now when I click on the bubble to go into a conversation it force closes on me. says something about process.google.android.talk??? any idea why it would do this? did the same changes to Mms and it works perfectly. So I am at a loss. Thanks!!

did you push the files from with adb while booted up? or from recovery mode? you have to push /system .apks in recovery mode to work correctly...ESPECIALLY if talk was actually running while you pushed them.

reboot into recovery mode, push the files again. hopefully you backed them up also, if not, tell me, i'll upload mine.

don't actually rezip it, use winrar to delete drawable-hdpi and replace it on the fly, thats how i do it.

are you doing this through adb or using a app on the phone? I have tried cutting and pasting through root explorer but it will not let you copy a folder just individual files.

i'm talking about when you're replacing the drawable-hdpi files. you can't extract the entire .apk, edit the files, then re-zip the files.

with winrar, you must extract only the drawable-hdpi folder, then from within winrar, delete drawable-hdpi, and drag and drop your own drawable-hdpi into the winrar window when finished. let it handle the compression.

If his color changes are working I doubt its a compression issue.

Possibly a .9.png would be my first guess.

oh, shoot i completely read over that part. ya ignore all of my suggestions so far on this thread.

i have no idea why clicking a bubble would cause it to force close if your changes worked correctly.

I'm interested in learning how to do such things. Along with the tutorial posted by Topsy what are some other topics or tutorials to research?

    Thanks.
