Even though Google is consistently rated as one of the best places to work on the planet, that doesn't mean that sometimes someone else won't make you a better offer. That is the case for Google right now. Babak Parvis, the founder of the Google Glass project, has left Google to work for Amazon.

Babak has done much more than just Glass for Google though. He was also one of the original members of Google's Project X skunkworks lab, and utilized his expertise in optics and other fields to assist with several projects for them. He had an impressive resume before even joining Google. Here's a quote with some of the details,

...was a researcher at the University of Washington where he developed the first contact lenses with integrated circuits. Later, he worked with Microsoft on research for blood-glucose monitoring contacts with Microsoft, a project he eventually brought to Google.

With all the movement throughout the industry in optical technology, it's no wonder Amazon wanted to snap him up.
