My Cards are still available if I open the Google app. But they don't show up in the Assistant screen. Seems like two completely different apps to me, Assistant doesn't seem to be a replacement for Google Now, at least not yet.

Yeah. I still don't get why they couldn't make the new one an update to the old instead of this weird situation where they don't both offer the same features. I can understand GN being the old version and not having some features of the new one, but at last check, there were also things it can do that Assistant can't. 1 step forward, 2 steps back...

Just tried the same thing with Moto Voice (Google Now) Pere. With my phone locked, screen off and a few feet away. Google now read me the list of actors. I guess the main difference is, with Assistant you can keep asking questions related to the first question. With Google Now she stops listening as soon as the first answer is read aloud.

Not true, I was forced to the new assistant but I constantly asked follow up questions, like,

Okay Google, how old is from cruise?

How tall is he?

What movies had he starred in...

Every question answered correctly, if yours isn't in not sure why but mine has for about a year now.

I decided to take a video of my Google now /assistant... Very strange. Basically if I click the persistent search bar it opens the old Google now, if I click the microphone button on it from my home screen or opens assistant. If I click the microphone from inside Google now it brings up the old Google now voice. Results etc...

Clicking or long pressing my home button opens Google assistant... Saying okay Google opens the assistant...

Why keep both around like this and not put them into one easy to use app Google... Or are they and they just haven't removed the deprecated features... Google really is the worst at updating or forcing app updates.

Good question, and my exact thoughts yesterday. I thought Assistant was supposed to be Google Now 2.0. Seems like just an update to Google Now On Tap and the Google Home software on a phone. I'm not knocking it, but having both at the same time seems odd. How about a true Google Now 2.0 with all cool functionality combined?

NOTIFICATIONS!!!!

On my Pixel XL, that came with Assistant, I don't have those same reactions to tapping the different things. No GN launching by anything. Just the GN cards on my homescreen.

If I tap the persistent search button, it opens a Google search, but no GN, if I tap the microphone in there I get assistant, if I tap the mic button on my GN screen in Pixel Launcher, it opens assistant.

I'm guessing it's a half-baked thing and they haven't removed the deprecated stuff.

Jonny, I'm guessing you like to clear all Notifications right away? Just a hunch?

I mean, if I'm busy or sleeping or something, they pile up, but yeah. I don't like feeling like I'm leaving something unfinished or unchecked.

I feel the exact same way, my GF however will have... pages.. literally pages of notifications... sometimes from two or more weeks ago.... and her chrome tabs... she has so damn many open it changes from a number to :D... okay apparently I can't put those two together... so it looks like this

: D without the space... I never even knew that was possible.

regardless I don't use the google experience launcher thing... I use nova launcher... THE ONLY way I can access my cards is to press the persistent search button... seriously google, if you're taking away the google now cards what's the point... I use them daily for all kinds of stuff.

I've been using Nova for years... I think I downloaded it shortly after getting my Droid 2 Global... and I've used it EVER since. I don't want to switch launchers... I MAY give the google launcher a try... I'm just not hopeful that it will be as customizable as Nova Launcher

It's not very customizable beyond rotation. I used to play with all of the big launchers, but don't these days. Sometimes, I'll go back to Nova for a bit.

I just got it. Hate it. How do you send screenshots now? Google now was so easy. Hold home.button, click share.
