Anyone know of a good free dvd ripper/converter to use to put movies on the droid x? All the ones I found that are free put a watermark on the movie or cuts out the sound after 30 seconds.

DVD catalyst 3 is well worth the $10. One click conversions straight from a DVD.

I went with DVD catalyst 3, for $10. It seems to work fine, and is not a hit to the wallet. Can anyone suggest what settings I should use if I want good play back on a flat screen via the hdmi port?

You might want to check out Freemake. It's a pretty decent alternative to Handbrake.

Anybody want to share the best sitting to use to get the video to fill the screen and have good quality? Either with DVD catalyst or Handbrake?

I use the Droid HD settings in DVD Catalyst 3 and it looks great on the big screen through HDMI. I takes a bit to convert but it is worth it to me. I converted Avatar in the Droid setting and it looked ok, but went back and did the Droid HD setting and it looked much better to me.

With DVD Catalyst you just pick the device you have and the settings are already set, easy as hell!

I would like the PM as well, if possible.

I downloaded DVD Catalyst Free Droid X (or whatever it was called lol) and it keeps telling me "unable to open properly."

    Take care,
    Rob

I have a mac and I use Handbrake. It works perfect and it's easy. (and free) There's a tutorial on here somewhere to give you the settings. But if you're on a pc, this information is useless.
Search for a converter for the iphone or ipod touch. Dvd catalyst is a good one but you have to pay for it. (unless you *cough cough* dl a torrent of it)

I had handbrake already (Im on a pc) but the rip is worthless for me. its all pixilated and the sound is choppy. I used the settings I found on a guide for handbrake to droid x. I think I will end up going with catalyst 3 this Friday when I get paid.
