Well, decided I'm returning the Droid. It's an awesome phone but I'm on my second one in as many weeks. My new replacement phone not only has a loose slide but a crap battery. I had it sitting on the charger last night, went to dinner and a movie and the battery was at 30% when I got home. Woke up this morning and 10% gone withing 30 minutes, no apps running.

Hopefully they will have a more dependable product in 6 months or so.

Thanks for all the assistance Droid Forums, this place is pretty cool.

    Later.

Sorry to see you go Tillers.

Not sure why you had such severe battery drain but that is not normal. You've been here long enough to know how to troubleshoot (shutting down GPS, IM clients, WIFI etc etc). So I'm assuming you did that and still got poor battery life?.

    Take care.

Tin cups and string, no battery issues there. lol j/k

Being the new kids on the block with the latest and greatest gadget always has its ups and downs, bugs and updates are always part of the deal, some can deal with it, some cant.
I would say your 6 mth time frame should get you something more suited.

Thanks for playing and see you then. ;)

perhaps a simple free battery swap (like Verizon gave me) would have saved countless headaches. I have to say that 90% of the complaints I see on these boards are due to user error, more than realistic expectations and inability to walk back into the Verizon store to exchange.

My phone has been on for 24 hours and I'm at 70%. I used GPS yesterday to navigate in the city, worked flawlessly. I don't ask it to make my coffee, wash my clothes or replace my laptop. Is this device for everyone, NO! it's for the geek, the tweak, but not for the meek.

Really???? My Droid is Awesome and the slider is good and my battery doesn't run out like that, but it does depend on what apps your running or other things that could run the battery out. Good luck on the next phone you will get.

don't blame you on the frustration. I just don't get why it is happening. I get remarkable time compared to all other smart phones I have had.

I doubt the O.P. would want new headaches with T-M.

Shame you left so soon. My phone has been off the charger for the past 6 hours and still at 90%. Something was draining it. Hope your next phone works out for you, but I am still thinking you could have resolved the Droid issue.

yes, very strange. Mine has been off since 9 this morn and I have been using it extensivly using the market for app downloads and setting them up, emaols, calls and text, it is at 70%! I must just be a lucky one and have a busy enough Verizon store that they blew through the bad shipments and got a good one. I have expirenced no problems with the slider, battery, freeze ups, ect, now that I say that though I am sure I will get those in the next 36 hours!!! lol

I am surprised to hear this. I wonder if you had a defective battery? My Droid was unplugged Saturday at 7am, used all day (texts, calls, little net surfing) and at 10am this morning (Sunday) it still had 70% of the battery left.

Compare that to the P.O.S. Eris that couldn't hold a charge on standby for 5 hours and well...let's just say I am satisfied.

But, that doesn't mean you weren't have issues. Clearly, you were. I am sorry to see you go. I hope your next device is better suited for you.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if there was some app running that was pulling data really often or something along those lines. I would have liked a look at the phone too in order to see what the OP was running. I've had great success with battery life, especially after the 2.01 update. My bluetooth is on ALL the time, wifi almost all the time, I installed that 2.1 based Weather/News app so at least something is updating periodically. Usually I have sync off since I don't care much about what comes to my gmail account, but my 2 POP3 accounts are set to update every 5 minutes with K9. GPS is OFF unless I'm using it. I get about 36 hours or so before I actually need to stick it on the dock or whatever.

Dayum...a new forum layout and 25,000 members and even the mods appear to be getting a tad harsh in their responses.

Good luck with your new phone Tiller....sorry to hear of your DROID problems

Odd he didn't ask us about the problem before leaving.

30% to 10% overnight is really nice! I'm going to guess there was a problem with the wall socket like another poster had, where the switch was controlling lights and the socket.
