ok so I have been running this since this morning here is how to do it.

Read the whole thing first. NOT MY FAULT IF YOU MESS UP SOMETHING

Download this stuff first and put it on SDcard:

1) z4root ([APP] z4root - xda-developers)
2)Droid 2 bootstrap (Droid 2 Recovery Bootstrap v1.0.0.5.apk)
3)Cyanogenmod7 for Droid Pro (cyanogen_venus2-ota-eng.jonathan.zip)
4)Gapps Optional (http://android.d3xt3r01.tk/cyanogen/gapps/gapps-mdpi-20110501-signed.zip)
5) RDS Lite (MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service)
6)SBF 2.26 (MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service)

This is the actual instructions:

1) SPF to 2.26 (no need for OTA)
2) Go through install process and get your network up and running, dont need to sign in to google
3) Install z4root ([APP] z4root - xda-developers) and get root
4) Install Droid2 Bootstrap (Droid 2 Recovery Bootstrap v1.0.0.5.apk)
5) Go in to recovery mode with Bootstrap
6) Do factory reset (i did it 3times to make sure)
7) Flash the zip with Cyanogen on it then if you want flash Gapps
8) Restart phone and enjoy CM7 and its greatness

IF SOMETHING IS NOT CLEAR ENOUGH JUST ASK AND I WILL UPDATE THIS

k guys heres my alpha build

Long time lurker here, I just registered to say thank you thank you thank you for all you've done. I've been cursing my phone for having that moto crap for a long time. You're the man!
Have you tried it?

Yup, works like a charm.

I got bootloop on sbf'ing back to 2.6.20 but pulling out the battery works.

So I will summarize what needs to be done:

- Backup.
- SBF it back to the stock SBF.
- Start the phone, if it bootloops, pull out the battery, R+M+Power On, when it shows the triangle, press @ and wipe cache + program.
- You should be able to start your phone now.
- Download z4root, root it, then download Koush's Droid X/Droid 2 bootstrap on the market (doesn't matter which one, they shoudl work)
- Bootstrap recovery, reboot to recovery, flash with the zip and the gb-gapps.zip, wipe cache + data just to be sure.
- ???
- PROFIT!

I ended up taking the OTA to 2.26.60 and then rooting to install CyanogenMod. Everything booted up without a problem. I am very impressed with this build. Typically, Alpha builds can't even be used as an everyday rom. Great work.

Ooops, CrackMonkey beat me to it :)

Anyway, I've discovered that the video player does not work :)

Hopefully the next version we'll have the video player and camera fixed (and probably GSM radio when time is allowed), otherwise it's perfect.

JackpotClavin, you're my god.

Wow this is actually really good, not what I expected :) Would rather have this than GB/Froyo/Fission anyday

EDIT: Not sure if you've noticed yet but I don't think you can set the side button a shortcut.

yup useless i think its cause no other phone really has it normally is a camera button if it does have it so cyanogenmod does not support it since nothing that they support has it

Download "Button remapper" and remap it to whatever you like :)

I usually just edit the text file manually, and remap the voice button to tab so I can work a little bit more comfortable when SSH'ing to my servers ;-)
