hey guys i'm gonna give cm7 a shot. btw the droid x update cvpcs posted works if you flash on clockworkmod ONLY IF YOU'RE DOING THIS FROM 2.26.60. The 3.7 something build will not allow booting

Did you say that the Droid X CM7 build will work on the Pro as long as you are at .60 when you load it? Did I understand right? If so, I may have to take a stab at it. I have really enjoyed GB on my Pro but nothing beats AOSP. dancedroid

AOSP means vanilla as in pure and crap-free.

Quick question, If I already have GB on my Pro, can I just download the CM7 update.zip and install it without having to go back to SBF>.60???

you have to sbf back to 2.26.60 as no other builds allow for 2nd init except this one, if i were you i wouldnt try this as the phone is for the most part useless. the radio does not even work. if you wanna try it you will need root explorer to modify the build.prop in /system/ and change the pixel density from 240 to 160 or else the phone will think the screen is larger than it actually is and you will not be able to see the extremities of the screen

This means you could get a rom that is 100% blur free, running gingerbread, and tons of speed!

Is that accurate? Isn't CM packed with tons of extras? I remember running on my DInc and there were so many additional options and features I got tired of tweaking it. I would love a pure, GB vanilla rom.

You don't have to tweak it. Its all about choice...and its awesome.

I know it offers plenty of choice, but what I really want is a barebones vanilla rom. CM is touted as vanilla, but it's got so many add-ons I don't think it should be considered as vanilla. I want mine completely vanilla, like the original Nexus device.

That's what im saying...is that you have the CHOICE to run it how you want. If you want barebones then just don't tweak it. Unless you just really prefer not to even see "CyanogenMod Settings" in the settings menu it would be a great barebones rom. CyanogenMod has such a huge following that they try to please everyone by giving the user maximum customization. That way people who want customization have it and those that don't care for customization can leave it as is.

Just to clarify - I very much appreciate the efforts of anyone developing these roms - I surely couldn't do it, no time, no knowledge. I was only saying my preference would be to have a fully vanilla rom, but if there is a fully working CM developed for the DP, I would most definitely give it a shot and donate if it works well. As for why I bought this phone, it's the only one with the form factor I crave and all the Android goodness you don't get with a BB. I used to try a new rom almost weekly on my old DInc but it got to be cumbersome to the point where half the time I was on the device was spent tweaking, saving, backing up, flashing, etc. I'm at the point where I just want it to work - load up a vanilla rom and USE the device instead of tweaking it all the time.
