Going to Europe - Questions

Greetings

I'm going to Europe in May for business and afterwards, doing some touring. After business completed, I want to send my luggage and laptop back to the states and only keep my Motorola A855 as my link to home. Moving far, fast and light.

I know I cannot use the cell service.... but my questions are:

Can I use the GPS features without cell tower connection?
Can I use the WiFi only in hotspots without cell tower connection?

If the answers are yes to my previous two... how should I configure phone to NOT scan for cell service and wear out battery?

The GPS receiver doesn't need the network. However, your GPS app may require data.

Can I use the WiFi only in hotspots without cell tower connection?

Yes.
