I am looking at other phones and I wonder "Why doesnt the droid have it". If any one knows how to upgrade a Motorola Droid to at least 2.3 I would love a reply.

Welcome to DF droidog. If you have the original droid, you won't be able to update it because being the og, it's memory, processor, single core, etc can't handle the processes, functions of the newer operating systems. What you may be able to do is root it (very involved for the og droid and you have to make sure you read everything and understand everything before you root) and install a custom Rom that functions like the 2.3 os. I am not sure how much support there still is for rooting and romming the og droid anymore. Back in the day (2010, lol), it was the phone to have, to root and to rom.
