Gmail problem. Please help

I am using a gmail account to receive email and it is saying that I have 5 new emails but when I check the inbox every email is shaded grey like its been read. This happened once before and I had to delete my whole inbox to get it to go away. I would rather not have to delete my whole inbox everytime this happens. Thanks in advance for any ideas how to fix this problem.

Do you have a boat load of emails in your gmail inbox on the web? Maybe some older ones have not been read. Your entire inbox is not downloaded to your phone all at once. I always archive all the emails in my inbox after I read them. Never had the problem you are experiencing.

I had that problem last week...it would notify me that I had 5 new emails but only 3 appeared. It fixed itself eventually

I used to have that problem a long time ago. I haven't had the problem in quite a while though. I think I used to just force sync (Menu > Refresh) inside of Gmail until it went away. Sometimes a reboot helped.
