Ideas? Just started today, have not updated or changed anything to the phone in a week.
Can you force it to sync?
also have you tried wiping data for the mail app?
end of line...
Try opening Gmail, press the menu button, then select "Refresh."
Go into Settings>Accounts & Sync>(Google Account) make sure Gmail is still selected to sync. If it already is, uncheck the box then recheck it.
The latest version is not just bug'd but plagued. :-/
(Just read some of the reviews) :-(
I know your rooted, ;-) hopefully you have a version of 18.104.22.168 around... If not you could always pull it from a ROM. (idk that any ROM has the newest GMail, i'd hope not)
uninstalled the new version of gmail and it works again. Something about piggy backing by other apps.

Same issue here. The only fix that worked was going back to the old version. Strange because it had been working fine for me.

Try adjusting the amount of days the gmail app syncs.
