    Gmail 2.2.1 [UPDATE: solved]

I can't seem to install the new version of Gmail. The option to uninstall Gmail is not available from Settings > Applications or from ChevyNo1 Tools. When I try to install the .apk, it just says "Application not installed".

Information about the upgrade is here: Download: New Gmail Version 2.2.1 | Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

What can I do to resolve this?

    Thanks.

UPDATE: Problem solved by uninstalling via Titanium, rebooting, and installing via Astro. Thanks, Meowmix!

I am currently running stock latest froyo (FRG22D) and I was able to upgrade successfully. I am also not seeing a lag that some people are referring to.

this is what i did and didnt have issues. get the app called tattachapkinstaller from the market, its free...email the apk to urself. when it asks which app to use to install, hit the new installer you just installed and you are set.

Read the article I linked. It has a better reply button and "performance improvements".

    SS 4.7 and yes.

You mean wiping data and cache and reinstalling the ROM? No. I cleared app data through app manager and cleared cache using cache cleaner app, and that didn't do anything. I'm not going to bother wiping data and cache unless I know for sure it's going to work, because that is kind of a pain, and rstapps has a tendency to screw with my market updates.

Hmm, ok, how are you with adb? Maybe try pushing it to /system/app via adb and see if that works?
