I'm giving my wife my Droid that I currently have rooted since my DX will be in today. In order to get rid of all my info and setting for her and for her to activate am I gonna have to go back to stock and then re-root? I'm running Kangerade if that makes a difference. Any advice to make this process as short and simple as possible would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Not 100% sure but if you just do a factory reset you will still be rooted. Someone correct me if im wrong.

Yes, Factory Reset. Factory Reset affects user data, not system data. You'll still be running the same ROM, Kernel and Root access you are running now, you'll just have no associated gmail account on the phone or downloaded apps.

You phone number is still associated to the phone, you will need to call Verizon to move your number to the Droid X and your wife's number to the Droid.

Ok thanks guys, one more stupid question sorry. My internet isn't working right now and we do not have a home phone, so how will I go about calling vzw to set up our phones? What's the process? So I turn of my droid, call from her currant eris and set up my dx. Then from my dx call back and have them tranfer her from her eris to my droid? Will this work out, it did in my head lol.

If your rooted, do wireless tether and then use Verizonwireless.com and switch the phones.

There is also another way...... Once you receive your X activate it to your line. Verizon's system will automatically disconnect your old Droid. Then once your X is active and running call verizon and have them put the old Droid on your wife's line. Its really simple. You do not have to unroot or anything. In order to clear all your info for her, once you have it active to her line, you can put a new ROM on the root of your sd card, boot into recovery, wipe data and cache then install the new ROM and reboot. All your info is gone and she can either log into her google account (if she has one) or create her own google account.

You can just do a Factory Reset, no need to flash another rom to it. Factory reset will wipe all user data from the phone (gmail account, email accounts, downloaded apps) but leave the system intact (whatever ROM/OS running on it currently).

When you boot the phone after a Factory Reset you are walked through the setup process just like when you bought it and set it up initially.....only difference is it will be running whatever ROM you currently have on it....still with Root.
