What is this gingerbread thing and will our phones automatically downlaod it ota update. Now that I am rooted do I have to unroot to get the gingerbread or will it "slide" into play

Gingerbread is the next update for android. It hasn't been pushed out on Verizon yet so no one is for sure what prep we need to accept the ota. In the past we simply go back to stock with all preloaded apps and remove any alternate recovery that ison the phone and then accept the ota. You will loose root until it is obtained for the update.

You can try a gingerbread rom by flashing one, there's plenty to choose from. Opinions vary on value added over Froyo. To me, gingerbread, meh .....

I'm personally curious when, if ever there will ever be a Gingerbread ROM for us OG Motodroid users. Almost completely sure it will never come ota from Verizon, and a stable CM7 release is looking iffy as well...
