I was wondering when the gingerbread was coming for the Charge. Or will it be the ice cream coming for the Charge.

There is Gingerbread for the Charge. Root it and get the TeamBlackHat app. It has Gingerbread to download off of it. Ice Cream Sandwich is a long ways away.

I really don't want to root it because I'm worried about the dangers of rooting.

Will rooting the Charge really do something bad to my phone?

Lol. Rooting basically gives you admin privileges to your phone.. no. Its what you can do to your phone after rooting that can damage your phone.

No. But there is a way to unroot your phone so no one will know you had. If you damage your phone when modding it, there are also odin recovery files you can use to bring it back to its original state.
