Getting messages twice

I downloaded handcent and using that, but I am getting my messages twice and my alert twice i guess once from handcent and one from the stock messaging i assume. How do I go about turning one off?

Go to the messaging app, then settings, and uncheck notifications.

Just open your stock messenging app hit menu select settings scroll down and disable notifications and your set

my wife had the same problem and VZW was charging her twice for text messages.
