Funny, I posted the same commercial in the Moto Z2 thread this morning. I guess it caught your eye also. I still don't know if that's for the current Moto Z or the new Moto Z2 that may be revealed soon. All of their commercials have been a bit quirky lately.

Stop trying to take shots at a company that's outselling you. Make a product that will beat them and let your sales and device reviews do the talking.

That being said this is a super weird commercial and distracts from the fact it's a phone commercial. As engineers say "Keep It Simple Stupid"

I've never bought a phone based on their commercials, that is for people like my parents. ("But the Apple commercials made me cry!")

However, I agree with this sentiment. Please give us robots over this crap.
