Hello and welcome, what type of device do you have?? I would suggest going into manage apps, all, gallery, clear cache, clear data, force close it, power off, power back on..

In addition to what is suggested above, you can also download a 3rd party app - i.e. QuickPic - are you able to open it and do you see any gray or blacked out thumbnails? You could have a corrupted pic which is not allowing the stock gallery to open....
