It was indicated earlier this month that Samsung’s camera-centric model would be called the Galaxy K. It looks like those rumors were spot on as Samsung sent out invites to the media for an event on April 29 with the title “Kapture the moment.” The usage of the word “k” is a definitive giveaway that the new device will indeed be called the Galaxy K. Samsung will hold the Galaxy K event at the Red Dot Design Museum in Singapore. The South Korean manufacturer is said to be launching a new series and not brand the device as the Galaxy S5 Zoom as the Galaxy K will not bear a lot of resemblance to the Galaxy S5 as far as design is concerned.

The device will not also share any of the hardware details as the Galaxy S5 and will instead be targeted at the mid-tier segment. The Galaxy K is said to feature a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED 720p screen, a hexa-core Samsung Exynos 5 5260 SoC that features two Cortex A15 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex A7 cores clocked at 1.3 GHz, Mali-T624 GPU, 2 GB RAM and a 20 MP camera that is said to feature 10x optical zoom. The camera is said to come with a Xenon flash and will not protrude as much as it did on the Galaxy S4 Zoom. There will be a 2MP camera at the front. The Galaxy K will run Android 4.4.2 out of the box.
